    My opinion on rod selection with the bladed jig is the medium power, they load up better and still have the bone to set the hook hard!

    Just found your channel. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber from Texas. I have a suggestion that works well with a jig. Netbait baby paca craw. It has a tube body with a solid head. Find a snug fitting glass rattle and insert into tube section. Oh and hang on! I’ve caught some real Texas monsters on this setup! Best of luck

    • @FisherMN
      @FisherMN 4 дні тому

      Thanks Jpeace530! Great idea with the rattle, I am still "fine tuning" my approach to jig fishing. In MN a 5 pounder is big, I am guessing Texas 7-10pounders?

    • @Jpeace530
      @Jpeace530 23 години тому

      @@FisherMN yes here in Texas the rattling jig catches the big ones. I caught 2 9 pounders in the same day. Actually within 5 casts of each other. Heck of a day to remember! Hope this will help!! Good luck to you!!

    First!! I love the pit boss. I usually use some kind of craw trailer. I think strike king. If I’m bouncing bottom it’s a football head or at least a jig that stands up. For color I like peanut butter and jelly, black and blue mixed with a little purple and green pumpkin mixed with any color. Always 50lb braid and I like a heavy power with a fast tip. Got to be able to feel that thud!!

    I'll be interested to hear how your hook up/landing ratio is with the medium action rod for bladed jigs. I've tried a medium in the past and lost a lot of fish on the way back to the boat. If you have an extra rod, try rigging up a swim jig as an alternative to the bladed jig. It's a more subtle presentation and comes through the weeds a bit better. You could still use the Powerstinger as your trailer. I've had days already this spring where the swim jig out fished the bladed jig 10:1. I always have both tied on.

    • @FisherMN
      @FisherMN 14 днів тому

      Good idea with the Powerstinger. The jury will be out on the medium rod for a while. I did pick a more "beefy" medium.

    • @seanmyhre1305
      @seanmyhre1305 19 днів тому

      Absolutely pike love bladed jigs. I personally don’t use a leader but you have to be willing to lose a few baits if that’s the case. Will probably get a few of Paul’s leaders for my bladed jigs soon.

    • @FisherMN
      @FisherMN 14 днів тому

      Hey Bob, I do use a leader as the northern like them as much as the bass. You can fish them like a jig or faster like a spinnerbait. Clear water, I like white, stained black and blue.
